Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp signed a new contract with the Reds which extended his stay at Anfield till 2022 from the earlier contract which expired in 2018.

The manager’s new contract has made the Reds happy as the manager’s arrival at the Anfield marked a new beginning for the Reds who spent a disastrous season under manager Brendan Rogers. Dubbed as the Magician at the Anfield, Jurgen Klopp brought about major changes in the squad and also led the squad to Europa League and Capital One Cup finals last season.

According to Lucas Leiva, the manager is trying to change things step by step without affecting the team and his presence in Liverpool is sure to make the club, fans and the players happy. Lucas, who captained Liverpool for their 1-0 friendly win over Tranmere Rovers on Friday night, told the club’s official website: ‘It’s great news for the club and for the fans as well because the relationship with him started really well and we hope that he will have a lot of success at the club.’

Klopp said: ‘It’s hard to express in words how honoured myself, Zeljko and Peter feel by the commitment shown in us by the ownership and the club in general.

‘We are very much at the beginning of our journey, but to already have the connection we have with this very special place is incredible.’

Klopp’s deputy Zeljko and second assistant coach Peter Kraweitz too signed a new deal at the Anfield along with the German manager.
