Georginio-Wijnaldum-690301

The Reds have started their Pre-season preparations with a comfortable win against Wigan by 2-0, while the prep continues for the team, manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that he will continue his recruitment drive till the close of the transfer window.

Kolo Toure has been released from the Anfield and so has Martin Skrtel who joined Fenerbahce. Further Liverpool defenders Joe Gomez and Mamadou Sakho have both injured an Achilles injury, thus the duo may end up missing the start of the season, while Joel Matip seems to have sustained an ankle injury during the match against Wigan, but Klopp has stated that it is not too serious.

Ragnar Klavan1

The Reds have reportedly completed the signing of Estonian international Ragnar Klavan from Augsburg. The player will be heading to the Anfield in a deal worth £4.2m. Klavan played both legs of the Europa League clash against Liverpool last season, and has made more than 100 appearances for Estonia.

Further the Reds are reportedly keen on signing Georginio Wijnaldum from Newcastle. After having failed to sign Piotr Zielinski and having let go of Jordan Ibe the German manager seems to have turned his attention to the Dutch midfielder. Liverpool are offering £15 million, Newcastle want £27 million, but Chris Bascombe of The Telegraph reports that the club are confident they can seal the deal for £20 million in the coming days.

Latest Liverpool transfer news: Mane and Keita want Werner at Anfield

Timo Werner is one of the hottest properties in German football and Liverpool have been linked with the forward, according to the Daily Star.

The report claims that we face competition from Manchester United and Bayern Munich for the 22-year-old forward. Naby Keita joined the Reds from RB Leipzig and claimed he would try his best to bring Werner to Anfield (h/t Daily Star):

“We played very well together in Leipzig, and he was one of my best friends there. It’s clear: If he’ll be on the move, I ask Timo to join us here at Liverpool.”

Sadio Mane also wanted the striker to join the Reds and told Bild (h/t Daily Star):

“I’d advise him to join Liverpool. I like his style of play. Very forceful, good finish, always giving it 100 per cent. If he wants to join us, we’d welcome him to our team.”

The report adds that Werner is the No.1 target for the Reds, and it will be interesting to see how things progress in the summer.

Liverpool have 0ne of the best attacks in the world

Liverpool play with three of the best attackers in world football with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino partnering Mane. The trio have plundered several goals since last season, but we could do with more attacking options.

Dominic Solanke was sold to Bournemouth in the winter window, and the report adds that Daniel Sturridge could leave the Reds at the end of the season.

That would leave us with just Divock Origi as a senior forward in the side, and it would be a major surprise if we don’t sign some players in the summer.

Liverpool FC transfer news: Chelsea submit bid for Liverpool target Luka Jovic

The Metro (h/t Mirror) reports that Chelsea have submitted a £39million bid for Liverpool target Luka Jovic. The 21-year-old Serbian has been in excellent form for Eintracht Frankfurt this season and has found the back of the net 19 times from 27 appearances.

The report adds that Liverpool have kept an eye on the highly-rated forward, who is also being tracked by La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Chelsea have now joined the race for the Serb, who is on loan at Frankfurt from Benfica. The report adds that Barcelona had agreed on personal terms with Jovic earlier in the week, however, his current club have stated that they would like to exercise their right-to-buy clause with Benfica.

The report also adds that Chelsea have made the 21-year-old a priority for the summer despite signing Gonzalo Higuain on loan and Christian Pulisic for next season.

Liverpool need more attacking options

The Reds have one of the best forward lines in football, however, the report claims that Jurgen Klopp will be looking for reinforcements in the summer window.

Latest Liverpool transfer news: Daniel Sturridge emerges as an option for Tottenham

The Mirror (h/t Daily Star) reports that Tottenham are considering a move for Daniel Sturridge. The 29-year-old Liverpool forward isn’t a regular at Anfield and his contract runs out at the end of this season. Though he has come up with a couple of key goals for the Reds this season, the Englishman doesn’t get enough game time (h/t Daily Star).

His strike against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge earned us a point early in the season. He also found the back of the net against PSG in the Champions League opener.

The report claims that Spurs want to “bolster” their attack and their current backup striker, Fernando Llorente, wants to leave London.

Mauricio Pochettino is eyeing potential forward options but faces competition if he goes for Sturridge, as MLS and other European clubs are eyeing up the Englishman (h/t Daily Star).

The end of the road for Sturridge?

The Englishman’s career at Liverpool has been hampered by injuries, however, he has been fit for most of this campaign.

The striker has found regular starts hard to come by this season as Jurgen Klopp has preferred a front-line trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

This attacking line-up of the Reds is possibly one of the best in the world, and it would be tough for many world-class forwards to grab a place in this playing XI.

It will be interesting to see the club’s decision regarding Sturridge in the summer. The Englishman is still one of the best finishers in the game but it is unlikely his game time will increase much next season either.
