Jurgen Klopp has been on the hunt of an attacking midfielder and has been linked with many quality players lately. The German boss is looking for alternatives to add strength to the attacking midfield as well as a different dynamics to experiment the possible 4-3-3 for the next season. Liverpool currently have the services of Mane, Coutinho, Firmino, Wijnaldum and Lallana as possible alternatives for the attacking midfield. Also, if Klopp is thinking to go for a tactical change with the 4-3-3, he will need more options in attack. Considering this, we believe that the Real Madrid star Jese Rodriguez, who is a reported target of Liverpool, can be a good fit at Anfield.
The current situation-
Real Madrid have bought back their star man Alvaro Morata to the Bernebau from Juventus. Jese Rodriguez faced a lot of competition from Bale, Ronaldo and Benzema to maintain a starting place for the Los Blancos last season and Madrid have made it clear that they are willing to let go Jese and this has alerted many big clubs across Europe.
A fit at Anfield?-
Jese is a player who attacks on a high line and has a pressing game. His quick feet and his abilities to turn defence into attack might interest Klopp and make him a good fit at Anfield. Liverpool currently have Ings, Firmino, Sturridge and Origi as their attacking options, however, they lack quality attacking wingers and signing Jese would add strength to the side. Also, Jese is a player who has the ability to play on either wings with left wing being his stronger side. He could be a valuable asset especially if Klopp opts for the 4-3-3 and even on the left attacking midfield in the 4-2-3-1.
However, Liverpool isn’t the only club that is showing interest in the Madrid star. Jese has been approached by Chelsea and PSG along with Southampton and West Ham United. The strongest link to the player is made by the French giants PSG and this is what their boss Unai Emery had to say on the transfer. “It’s a possibility, as are other opportunities in the transfer window. I know Jese well, the club knows Jese well, he is a good player.”
With all this and lot more going on in the transfer season, Liverpool looks likely to sign an attacking midfielder anytime soon as Klopp after the defensive troubles are sorted.
