Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli is reportedly wanted by Ajax this summer. According to the reports from the Daily Mail, the Italian player is set for a move to the Dutch club. The Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has already informed the player that he does not feature in the German’s plan for the Squad next season and hence to find a new club this summer. The reports further states that the player is valued at £16m by the Reds and while the player is open for a move to the Dutch outfit the price tag may create a problem where the move is concerned.
The 25-year-old has 12 months remaining on his contract but Liverpool would still look to recoup some of the £16m they paid for him in 2014 as part of the summer clearance.
Balotelli was brought to the Reds by then manager Brendan Rodgers, but disappointed in his debut season back in England.
The Merseysiders are looking to sign Thomas Vermaelen from Barca this summer as Klopp looks to bolster his defense. According to the reports from Gazzetta Dello Sport, the player may end up moving out of the Catalan club before the start of the new campaign. Liverpool are however set to face competition from Roma for the player’s signature.
“When you sit in the main chair like I sit, you have a lot of power, but even more than that, you have all the responsibility,” Klopp told Goal.
“And responsibility for me means it never ends, even when you leave.
“You need to create something where you can really be measured by even after you’ve gone.”
