Scout Report: Who Is This 17-Year-Old Latest Liverpool Target? Everything You Need To Know

A new day, a new rumour! While the Merseyside club Liverpool are preparing themselves for one of the biggest showdowns of the season, the media houses are gathering the news regarding the possible transfers involving Liverpool. Well, this is no secret that even after signing seven new players into the squad, the Merseysiders still need a pillar in many areas.

Just like last season, the side have been a victim of inconsistency and their recent results suggest the same. They kicked off their campaign in style as they defeated Arsenal at their fort but then went down the drain against a lowly Burnley side. The side needs to keep that aside and will have to travel with their heads held high because a trip to the White hart Lane isn’t the easiest of all.

Talking about the rumours, Daily Mail has recently reported that Jurgen Klopp has now set his sights on Borussia Dortmund’s 17-year-old midfielder Christian Pulisic. Further, the same source has stated that the Merseysiders have launched a bid of £11million for the player and are now waiting to discover whether their offer has been successful or not.

Besides Liverpool, the teams like Stoke City, Red Bull Leipzig, and CSKA Moscow are also reportedly chasing the player, and in order to find a first team form, Dortmund could allow the teenager to leave this summer. Well, Liverpool already have a bag full of attackers at their side, but an option for the future will do no harm.

Who is Christian Pulisic?

Born in Pennsylvania, Pulisic has a great history regarding his trials, as he has previously trained with the clubs like FC Porto, Chelsea, Barcelona and PSV, however, he was rejected due to the lack of his physical presence. At the age of 15, he went back to his home country for training to make a mark in European football and his efforts finally resulted as Dortmund’s scouts spotted him and brought him to Germany.

January 2015, the then 16-year-old was assigned to Dortmund’s U-17 squad and until the summer of 2015, he was playing with the U-19s. After scoring 10 goals and assisting 8, he was called to join the first team over winter break. In January 2016, he made his Bundesliga debut and in the 2015-16 season, even though he marked his presence in the second half of the season, he had 12 appearances to his name, and two goals as well.

The new season for the young 17-year-old kicked off in style as he scored in stoppage time against Manchester City to send the clubs into penalties, and a few days back, he scored the first goal in Dortmund’s DFB Pokal 3-0 win against Hallescher FC.

In April 2016, he became the youngest foreigner to score a goal in the Bundesliga. Later that month, he became the youngest player to ever score two goals in the Bundesliga.

Pulisic has also represented the United States at the U-15 and U-17 levels. In March 2016, Pulisic was called up to the Senior team by coach Jürgen Klinsmann ahead of a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying game. He is also the youngest American to play a World Cup qualifier, and also the youngest player to score for the United States in the modern era.

Style Of Play:

Pulisic is a typical number 10 man for the team, who loves to dribble past the defenders and create spaces for his team-mates. Pulisic possesses that natural attacking flair and is undoubtedly a threat for any opposition. He is known for possessing the quick feet and also for his close and composed control of the ball.

Pulisic is also praised for his superb vision and that allows him to unleash some serious and threatening balls to his teammates. One of the best attributes Pulisic possesses is his dedication to the sport and besides that, his ability to contribute defensive is something he has been praised by many footballing experts.

Despite being just 17 years of age, he has shown a great maturity on the pitch and has always been a calm and composed figure when pressed by the opponents. He is fouled much often, and that is mainly because of his ability to run around the defenders with ease. He, though, still needs to work on his physical strength, but besides that, he is just a joy to watch.
