Why This League Winning Star Would Be A Good Solution For Liverpool’s Left Back Headaches

A jaw-dropping news came on this Sunday from the Sun, as they reported that Liverpool are currently monitoring the situation of Leicester City’s star man Christian Fuchs.

The media house went on to say that Liverpool might line a move before the transfer window shuts and we might see him playing for a different club this season. The 30-year-old Austrian full-back, who arrived at the King Power Stadium last summer on a free transfer from the German side Schalke, is in talks with the Foxes over a new deal, but the sources have reported that the negotiations are stalled for now.

Furthermore, Ranieri has already convinced captain Wes Morgan as well as Jamie Vardy, Danny Drinkwater, Riyad Mahrez and Kasper Schmeichel to sign a new contract, but is facing problems to do the same with Fuchs. Fuchs, who is not among the high-earners at the club, will see his contract runs out at the end of next season.

The 30-year-old, while joining the Foxes, clearly stated that Leicester would be last European club. He said:

“My intention is to play in the US. I have come [to Leicester] for three years. I decided that I would sign one last contract in Europe, when I left Schalke, then go to the US.”

But let’s face it, and offer from Liverpool cannot be easily denied.

Well, we all are aware of the fact that Liverpool are facing some mid-life crisis regarding the left back role and right at this very moment, the manager has chosen the former Manchester City midfielder James Milner over the natural Spanish left back, Alberto Moreno.

Also, they have sold Brad Smith who was considered as a bright star, while on the other hand, Joe Gomez is still struggling to find a footing in the first team, so it is safe to say that Fuchs might rescue Milner from misery, although he is playing really well. The Austrian, who was the only player in the squad to play in the Champions League last season, was unarguably the best full back of the last season.

Looking at Liverpool, he would be an easy fit for Klopp as his performance and his current form is solely supporting his cause. The 30-year-old, who was an unknown figure until the start of the last season has really cemented his place in the Premier League and his stats from the previous season are pretty amazing as well.

In his 32 appearances for the club, he created 45 chances, four out of which were converted into the back of the net. Furthermore, he averaged 9 defensive actions per game and won 46% of his average duels. And besides his defensive capabilities, the Austrian was a useful personnel while taking or defending the set pieces too.

All-in-all, we believe that Liverpool are surely taking a risk about this one, but the player is worth it. He has earned his name all by himself and even though he is not the youngest player on the pitch, he certainly is an upgrade to Alberto Moreno at Anfield.
