The grand “festival” of transfers have finally concluded and the Premier League has reached new heights this time around as they have crossed the 1 billion mark in terms of spending. From Arsenal to West Brom, every club have tried their skins out to bring in some quality names and 13 out of 20 clubs have broken their own record this term.

Liverpool were no exception as well. The manager signed seven new players into the squad, but even after that, the squad had that old inconsistent start to their campaign. They started off in style as they outnumbered the Emirates outfit with ease, then went on to face a humiliation against the newly promoted side Burnley and then played a 1-1 draw against Tottenham.

Well, this is no secret that even after doing a great business; the side has suffered in many areas of the field, especially the left zone. The abysmal form of Alberto Moreno has let the manager use the former Manchester City man James Milner for the spot, and even though the former England international has admitted that it isn’t his preferred position, he still will serve just for the team.

With that being said, we expected a late drama at Anfield, but nothing happened, so here are two players that Liverpool should really have tried to sign on the deadline day:

1. Ricardo Rodriguez-

The 24-year-old Swiss sensation has been on the radar of many Premier League as well as La Liga clubs, namely, Arsenal and Chelsea, but nothing materialized at the last minute. The Wolfsburg left back is one of the most highly rated players in the industry and looking at Liverpool’s current situation, he would have been the best fit for the squad.

With him coming at the Anfield, James Milner would have been released from his misery and the Swiss could well have been Klopp’s first choice player. Rodriguez is known for his rigid, yet well-disciplined defending and also for his attacking flair. Considered as one of the most lethal defenders in the world, he is known for his dead ball speciality and that is why we believe that he would have been a perfect fit for the manager.
