Does Danny Ings Have A Liverpool Future? Klopp Might Have Some Different Plans For Him

The Premier League is at its standstill as it’s that time of the year again. The international break is on and players have all returned to their home bases to make their motherland proud. The transfer market closed on Wednesday and it was one hell of a day. Clubs dashing left and right to complete deals to cover their positions. The most surprising of all deals was David Luiz making his way back to Chelsea. Moussa Sissokho doing a u-turn on Everton as he joined Tottenham for a staggering 30 million pounds. Most pundits are happy that the bloated transfer market closed. Teams have had to pay some crazy money for players when they are not worth that much.

Liverpool had a quiet day as the transfer market closed. The last day saw Markovic and Balotelli leaving. With European football not in the cards, Klopp would like to trim down his squad and work with a smaller group. Liverpool have good cover at the back with Karius back to training and at midfield, they have plenty of options to choose from. But the supporters are not satisfied with the future of Danny Ings. Out since October, the ex-Burnley man does not seem like he will be getting much game time in the near future. The Liverpool forward line boasts of Firmino, Sturridge and Origi. Ings will be the fourth striker once he is back in contention for a starting place. A starting place is a distant star for him as he will find it difficult to make it to the substitute bench even. Though Klopp’s reassurance might be music to the ears of the England under-21 international but the reality might be harsher than the truth for the striker. He though can play in wide areas and can be deployed in the wings.

In the current formation (4-3-3) the front three will mostly consist of Coutinho, Firmino and Mane, and sometimes Sturridge. Klopp won’t be looking to tinker around with the team that much but Ings will be a fringe player until he proves otherwise. The FA cup and the English League Cup looks most likely for him. Bids of around 20 million pounds

were made for Ings but Klopp nipped them all in the bud. A pacy forward with good ball control and his ability to burst through defences will be an asset to the Liverpool team if he remains fit for the rest of the season. Klopp might even have some different plans for him and might want to use him for a different purpose altogether. The future though looks rather unclear for the forward.
