The new acquisition of Liverpool, Ragnar Klavan, will miss the Saturday’s clash against championsLeicester City. The Estonian centre-back reported back for club duty on Wednesday having aggravated the knee injury which had forced him to miss the trip to Tottenham prior to the international break.
The 30-year-old was then given the “all-clear” to serve his country in their opening World Cup qualifier against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Tuesday night. He played the full 90 minutes in Zenica but it proved to be a painful night in more ways than one as Estonia were thrashed 5-0 and he was hampered by discomfort in his knee late on.
The manager, last time out, used the central back pairing of Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip and it is understood that this will remain intact for the Reds. Klavan will now be assessed by Liverpool’s medical staff but he’s unlikely to feature this weekend.
With Klavan out of the scenes, the manager will have to select the bench accordingly. We might see Lucas Leiva as an option for the defenders, while, on the other hand, Mamadou Sakho is fit to play as well.
