The Merseysiders did a great business this time around as they brought in seven new players into the squad. The manager was desperately looking to find an upgrade for the error-prone Belgian shot-stopper, and to overcome the situation, he bought Loris Karius from the Bundesliga outfit, Mainz 05 and with Danny Ward leaving on loan, the manager filled the void by bringing the former Arsenal man, Alex Manninger.
Now, according to the reports from the Mirror, Liverpool were monitoring the situation of the former Real Madrid shot-stopper Antonio Adan, but unfortunately, they missed out the opportunity. The current Real Betis man, Antonio Adan, has himself confirmed that he had offers from a series of clubs and they are reported to have been Liverpool, Everton and Napoli.
Adan admitted: “There were offers, but nothing better than Betis.”
Adan, 29, came up through the ranks with hometown club Real Madrid having joined the club at the age of just ten, but he failed to make the grade at the Santiago Bernabeu. Adan has been a star for Real Betis since his move, and his performances for the Andalusian club appear to have attracted interest during the summer transfer window.
Both the Merseyside clubs, Everton and Liverpool, were reportedly chasing the shot-stopper and failed to grab the opportunity, but they did sign the player for the spot eventually. The Toffees landed Maarten Stekelenburg whilst Jurgen Klopp’s Reds snapped up both Loris Karius and Alex Manninger.
