Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius looked all cheered after making his debut for the Merseyside club in a 3-0 win against Derby County in the third round of the League Cup on Tuesday night.
The former Mainz shot-stopper joined Liverpool back in May for a reported fee of £4.7 million on a five-year deal. He started his Liverpool career brightly as he featured regularly in their pre-season tour, but the German U-21 international broke his hand in a 1-0 loss to Chelsea in the International Champions Cup in California in July.
The manager then had to use Simon Mignolet for the Premier League fixtures in the absence of Karius. The German shot-stopper was thrilled to start his first Liverpool game as Klopp’s side booked their place in the next round of the League Cup.
Karius posted the above photo alongside Emre Can on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption:
“An indescribable feeling to be back! Clean sheet ✔ Next round ✔ Successful comeback ✔ – Couldn’t be better! #WelcomeBack @ec2323 ✌️ #DCFCvLFC #EFLCup #YNWA @liverpoolfc”
