It is quite fair to say that Liverpool are coming back on track, slowly, but yes. The Merseysiders had an average start to their campaign, but then the triumph over the reigning Premier League Champions, Leicester City, and then over Chelsea brought back the confidence and the team is all set to challenge for the title this season.
Klopp recently travelled to face Derby County for the EFL Cup and that turned out to be one of the simplest outings for the side. The first goal in the game came from an unexpected source, Ragnar Klavan, and then the side went on to score two more to make the scoreline look more comfortable.
With that being said, the Reds will meet Tottenham Hotspur in the next round, but before that, the newly promoted side Hull City will be visiting the Anfield this Saturday and will be hoping to get at least a point from the fixture.
The visitors, so far, have impressed the Premier League audience by their stellar defensive performances and the game against Manchester United was the perfect example of that. Just like that, they might look to sit back deep to secure the point; hence Klopp will have to come with a solid attacking plan to counter Hull’s deep defence.
Until then, here is the predicted line up for Liverpool:
Goalkeeper: Loris Karius-
The manager did mention that there is no number one player for the spot, yet many anticipate that Karius will be his preferred option over Mignolet. The German professional will be looking to keep a clean sheet time around, something that Mignolet has failed to do so far.
Defence: Clyne; Lovren; Matip; Milner-
Clyne will unarguably be starting for Liverpool. The former Southampton man has been performing out of skin since Klopp’s arrival and will be playing a great role both defensively and offensively.
Lovren, who was rested against Derby might mark his return to the starting line-up.
His partner will most probably be Joel Matip. The former Schalke man paired up with Klavan against Derby and gave a strong performance.
The left flank will be occupied by the versatile James Milner. The former Manchester City man was rested against Derby and he is expected to start this game.
Midfielder Trio: Can; Henderson; Lallana-
The German midfielder, Emre Can, was dropped to the bench against Derby and did make an appearance after a long time. But, it is safe to say that the manager might opt to start the game with him.
Can will be sitting deep, the skipper, Jordan Henderson, will be commanding the central area of the park and will be looking to continue his good work. The skipper looked a bit sloppy against Derby, but besides a couple of moments, he looked good.
Adam Lallana will be making his way back into the lineup after being dropped from the EFL cup tie. The former Southampton man has improved a lot since Klopp’s arrival and this season, he has been an unsung player for the side.
Attacking Trio: Mane; Firmino; Coutinho-
The Senegalese sensation was also dropped a couple of days back and Divock Origi was given the opportunity, but this time around, the manager will be looking to line up his strongest possible team. Mane will be returning to the line-up and Firmino will be taking his usual place in the squad.
The left side will be occupied by non-other than Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian is full of skills and possesses a pure attacking threat and could well be a concern for the Tigers.
