Well, Liverpool are getting some fine results lately, but it is safe to say that besides Sturridge, the Merseysiders do not really have a top class striker.
Now, according to the reports from Italy, Liverpool are monitoring the situation of Sassuolo’s striker Grégoire Defrel, and a bid for the striker is expected in January. Liverpool, who are currently on the fourth spot in the Premier League, are considering this move a serious one as the manager, Jurgen Klopp, has described the striker as a ‘high-quality player’.
Well, Liverpool are not the only candidate who are showing the interest in the striker. The reports have claimed that the fellow Premier League clubs like Crystal Palace and Swansea City are also in the chase and hence, Liverpool will be facing a stiff competition.
The Frenchman moved to Sassuolo last summer from Italian outfit Cesena for a fee believed to be in the region of €7 million, and still has four years remaining on his contract with the club. Defrel has been creating waves in Italy this season after scoring five goals in his last six matches and if Liverpool did make a move for Defrel, he would face stiff competition for a regular starting role, with the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi, Danny Ings and Roberto Firmino already at the club.
