One of the brightest Croatian talents in football seems to have set some of the top clubs in Europe on high alert. Ante Coric recently shared a veiled message on his Facebook account. Calciomercato revealed the message that the highly rated 19-year-old put on social media. The post read:
“My life and my dream. That’s what football means to me.
“Unfortunately it is a difficult moment from dreams, I am sorry for not playing in a crowded Maksimir tonight.
“I’d been waiting for this moment since the very first time I’ve worn this shirt and it’s hard when you know you’ve not been called for a big game.
“My heart is with my teammates, I wish them all the best”
The message was sent out before the Champions League game for Dinamo Zagreb. The Croatian side were set to play Juventus and this message does cast a doubt on Coric’s future.
The 19-year-old has often been linked with a move to Liverpool but has always decided to stay in Croatia as he works on his game. But this exclusion from the side could be the final tipping point. It has been rumoured that Coric is not on good terms with Dinamo coach Zalikjo Sopic.
The Reds are not the only club that are linked with Coric and AC Milan are also trying to sign the youngster up.
Almost a Red earlier
While Liverpool will be trying to sign the highly talented attacking midfielder, Coric did reveal he was close to signing for the Reds. While speaking to Goal, Coric did reveal he was just one medical away from being a Red.
“I am happy such big clubs want me, but I want to play with my favourite team in the Champions League,” he said.
“It was up to me to decide, all I needed to do was a medical, but I want to stay at Dinamo, where I can give a lot more.”
This was before his relationship with the Dinamo coach broke down. Coric might not be playing too much football at the moment but he was part of the impressive Croatia side that did well in Euro 2016.
The 19-year-old would not be a cheap buy at the moment but most of Klopp’s signings have worked wonders this season. From Sadio Mane to Joel Matip, every new Red seems to be performing under the German.
Coric still is a bit of an unknown quantity outside Croatia but he could be a great signing for Liverpool. He probably would not break into the first team given that the Reds are doing well. But the Croatian will certainly be a player to keep an eye out for in the future.
