3 Players Liverpool Should Sell Out In The January Transfer Window

Liverpool have emerged as an extremely strong team under Jurgen Klopp this season. Their 2-1 win over Swansea during the weekend was their fourth consecutive win and it has put them fourth in the division – a point behind Tottenham. Liverpool may be a team functioning at the best of their abilities now, but it does not mean that the team is without its disadvantages. There are possibilities to improve the squad further and this means eliminating some of the weaknesses. Here are the top three players the club could sell in January in order to make way for new signings:

  1. Divock Origi

Divock Origi was a shining talent at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. He was seemed to be a younger and better version of Romelu Lukaku. Unfortunately, the 21-year-old has failed to fulfil his potential so far. Yes, he has scored two goals in two EFL Cup appearances, but he has been a failure in every other match. Klopp has decided to use the player as a substitute in the league. Origi is yet to start a game and his international opportunities will suffer as a result. There is a good chance the player himself will force the transfer if his situation does not improve before January.

  1. Daniel Sturridge

Daniel Sturridge is fast becoming one of the unhappiest players in the Liverpool squad. Klopp does not seem to be happy with the player’s persistent injury problems. The German manager has hinted that Sturridge should be capable of playing through most of his injury problems, but the England international seems to differ. Sturridge has shown visible signs of unhappiness and this is likely to cause even more friction if his situation does not improve before January.

Sturridge is yet to score in 288 minutes of action in the league. His only assist came in the 4-1 win over Leicester and it was probably his best game so far.

  1. Alberto Moreno

The Spanish fullback is now one of the undesired elements in the Liverpool squad. Fans have been quite unhappy with the player’s performances for some time, but Klopp persisted with the left back until the opening match of the season against Arsenal. His performances have been so poor that it would take an astronomic turnaround to infuse some confidence, and thereby form, into the player. Since the team is performing extremely well, it would be difficult to see the potential for more game time in the near future.

It would not be surprising to see Moreno as one of the first departures from Anfield in January.
