Steven Gerrard Hints Where His Future May Be, Liverpool Fans Should Be Happy!

The 2005 Champions League winner spoke to the Sunday Mirror (cited by the Independent) and stated that he is considering his options for the future. He also stated that he could take up another role should he not get a good enough playing role at a club.

“I’m wondering whether I should play on for a little bit longer or whether I should call it a day. I haven’t 100 pc decided on that yet.

“I still enjoy playing. I still love coming into training, I still love competing, so if I can carry on and there are opportunities to stay here or go somewhere else for another six months or 12 months then I’ll consider it.”

The former Liverpool captain also stated that he would be willing to take up a coaching role. But he is not ready for such a position at the moment.

“But if nothing comes up I’ll try and fly through the coaching badges and see what happens down that road.

“Maybe it’s an obsession but I still love playing. I’m going to be a long time retired and so I still want to enjoy things while I’m still feeling good.”

Future locations for Gerrard?

While many would ponder on his next club, Gerrard would probably stay in the United States. The Liverpool legend might not be willing to come back to the Premier League, though he could still do a job there.

The Englishman probably enjoys a more anonymous lifestyle in America, which is not possible in the UK. This is the reason why a lot of players have moved to the US. If Gerrard is looking for a massive payday before he calls it quits, there are a number of options for him.

From the United Arab Emirates to Qatar to even China, there are a plethora of options for Gerrard. Even though all Reds fans will hope for a return to Liverpool, it does seem to be highly unlikely at the moment.

The Reds have a great squad currently and with Jurgen Klopp looking mostly at young players, Gerrard might not be the ideal option. The 36-year-old certainly does not have the legs to play in Jurgen Klopp’s gegenpressing ideology and would struggle to deal with the pace of the Premier League.

A great head to have in the side

What Liverpool does lack in the side is experience and that is something that Gerrard can produce in tons. The Liverpool legend played over 700 games for the club and he would be an ideal role model to have at the club.

Klopp would not mind having Gerrard in this role as well but the English midfielder probably has a couple of years left in him. The US should still be his home, till he decides to take up coaching more seriously.
