Liverpool are rumoured to be in the race to sign Geoffrey Kondogbia from Inter Milan. WebCalcio.net believes the Reds are looking to add more muscle to their midfield and have targeted the 23-year-old. Kondogbia was signed by the Serie A club from Monaco in 2015 and has been one of the best players for the side.

The Frenchman was a bright prospect at Monaco and played mostly as a defensive midfielder. He already has played four games for the Serie A side this season and his form has not been the worst.

Kondogbia is known for his tackling ability and also passes the ball from midfield really well. He is not someone who is a dynamic midfielder and will be running with the ball into attack, but he can surely do a great job at the heart of the park.

The 23-year-old is still learning his trade and could feature for the Liverpool side, should he sign for them. The Reds would have to break the bank if they want to sign Kondogbia and Inter would not want to sell one of their jewels next season or even in the winter window.

How does Kondogbia fit into the Liverpool team?

While the Reds or any other club would love to have the Frenchman in their side, it is a bit of a stretch seeing him play for the Reds. Liverpool have a number of options in the heart of the park and don’t play with someone who is only doing a defensive job.

Jordan Henderson is the deepest midfielder in the side and even he has the responsibility of recycling possession and getting forward as well. Kondogbia does have an engine but he is known for breaking up attacks.

The 23-year-old would certainly add a lot of steel in the side but he is another Emre Can in the making. In fact, Can is a better option for the Reds at the moment. The German is great at tackling too but he can also play a little higher up the park.

Can is tried and tested in the Premier League too, while the Inter Milan man would be a bit of a risk. Kondogbia has not played in a league which is as robust as the Premier League, though many believe the French league is the closest rival to the Premier League in terms of physicality.

Jurgen Klopp also seems to have finalised his playing trio in midfield. And breaking the Henderson-Wijnaldum-Lallana triad will be hard for anyone. Even Emre Can cannot get a game in and he was one of the best players under Klopp last season.

The Reds actually need to bring in someone for their left-back position and that needs to be the priority for the side.
