Premier League Table Looks Incredibly In Favour Of Jurgen Klopp Compared To Previous Seasons

What a year it has been under Jurgen Klopp. The German took over at the club just over a year ago in October and Liverpool have gone from strength to strength. The Reds currently lie fourth in the Premier League after seven games and are just a couple of points behind Manchester City.

While the international break is on, we get a chance to look at some of the incredible work done by Klopp over the past year.

The Reds have 16 points after 7 games, which is their best start to a season since 2008/09. After seven games, the Reds have only dropped points against Burnley and Tottenham. Liverpool are also on a fantastic run and have won four games in a row in the Premier League.

Their performances in the EFL Cup have been great as well and many of the new signings are clicking well. The Reds have certainly come a long way since October 2015. That month saw the end of Brendan Rodger’s reign after a 1-1 draw against Everton. Worryingly for the Reds, they were 10th in the league at a similar stage and had only 12 points from eight games.

Liverpool gear up to face Manchester United after the international break and the performances of the club against the bigger teams has been laudable so far. The Merseyside club has defeated Arsenal, Chelsea and Leicester City. They have already played the Gunners, the Blues and Tottenham away, so these three tough fixtures are done and dusted with.

In fact, the Reds also are the top scorers in the Premier League (tied with Manchester City) with 18 goals this season.

New signings working wonders for the club

While the spine of the team more or less is the same from last season, the likes of Ragnar Klavan, Joel Matip and Georginio Wijnaldum have done pretty well. Matip is the player that has stood out the most. The Cameroon international seems a great fit for Liverpool and the fact that he came on a free makes it even greater.

There have been a few old boys that are shining for the Reds this season too. Dejan Lovren has looked like his old Southampton and Lyon self while James Milner looks extremely good as a left back. The star of the team has to be Adam Lallana though. The Englishman has been in incredible form and Liverpool fans will hope his injury is not too serious.

Even Jordan Henderson has been doing a very good job in the holding midfielder’s role in the middle of the park. The only concern for the Reds remains in defence as they are yet to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League this season. But many pundits believe their style of play will lead to more wins than losses.

The Reds don’t even have European commitments this season and that should work in their favour. There is a sense of believe in the Reds, which was not there under Rodgers last season. Klopp has gotten the fans on his side and if things go this way, there will be no stopping the Reds as they look to claim their first Premier League crown.
