“There’s A Reason He Is Called The Magician” – Liverpool’s Diminutive Midfielder Praised By His National Team Coach

It seems Philippe Coutinho’s stock at Liverpool is rising for the good. After a great start to the season, the 24-year-old seems to be in the plans for Brazil manager Tite.

Tite was speaking to reporters and he even reasoned why Coutinho should start for the side.

“There’s a reason he is called the Magician [by Liverpool fans].”

The new Brazil manager also stated the kind of player the mercurial Liverpool star is and what he provides to the side.

“With his passes, Coutinho opens the lines, creates space. I like his mobility, he was influential in both [previous qualifying] games when he came on.

“Right now this is Coutinho’s moment. And in football, you have to follow the moment.”

Coutinho has scored thrice this season already and even though he didn’t have the greatest of Copa America tournaments, Brazil are on the mend.

The 5-time World Cup winners brought in Tite to fix the problems left behind by Dunga and so far he has done a pretty good job. The side are back to playing an attractive style of football and youngsters like Gabriel Jesus are starting for the side.

Brazilian magic from Coutinho

It has always been a stop-start career for Coutinho at club and country level. While he has been able to nail down a starting spot at Liverpool, the same cannot be said about his place in the Brazil side. Coutinho has only played 20 games for Brazil since making his debut in 2010.

It took him four years from his first game to get a few more under his belt and all those came after he left Inter Milan and joined Liverpool. There has always been competition for a place in the Brazil side and this competition should have spurred him on. But the 24-year-old is extremely inconsistent and that has been his biggest issue.

Currently, he is starring for Liverpool but a dip in form is always around the corner and that is the greatest fear any fan has. Personally, Coutinho has never played under a manager that can throw his arm around a player and get him going again. Jurgen Klopp certainly seems to be that kind of manager and in under a year, Coutinho seems to be doing a lot more for the team than earlier.

The former Inter star isn’t the main attacking threat for the side but he is extremely important. His mobility and quick feet have made him one of the most lethal players in the Premier League. His ability to score spectacular goals is always handy.

There is one area for him to work at and that is his goal scoring. Sure he does come in with a world-class strike every other game but he needs to score more goals. If he can add that to his arsenal, there is no doubt Coutinho will stay in the Liverpool and Brazil teams for years.
