Henderson Shines Once Again – The Best And The Worst Rated Liverpool Players From The 0-0 Draw

The battle of the Reds turned out to be a bit of a dampener as Liverpool and Manchester United played out a 0-0 draw. The Reds were the favourites for the game but a well-drilled Jose Mourinho side ensured Liverpool did not come out of the game with the three points.

The first half was a bit of a miss for both sides as the defences stood firm and barely provided a chance to either attack. The second half saw Liverpool ramp up the pressure but David de Gea ensured nothing would get passed him.

This was a missed chance for the Reds as they knew a win could have taken them level on points at the top. Still, this is a better result than last season where they lost both games in the league.

We look back at the game and provide the ratings for the Reds.

Loris Karius – 6/10

The German goalkeeper had a few nervous moments with the ball at his feet and also stumbled to cope the aerial balls. Klopp will have to fix this issue with the keepers soon.

James Milner – 7/10

A battling performance by Milner, many expected him to be torn apart by Marcus Rashford’s pace but the Englishman did well even though he was subject to a few brutal hits.

Dejan Lovren – 7/10

The Croatian barely had anything to do in the game and it was an easy night for him.

Joel Matip – 7/10

The former Schalke man did well to keep Zlatan Ibrahimovic quiet and ensured there wasn’t a lot of worries in defence. He had his physical battles with the Swede, but he gave a good fight overall.

Nathaniel Clyne – 7/10

Clyne went up to support the attack well and had a good enough game.

Emre Can – 6/10

The German was brought in to replace Georginio Wijnaldum but could not provide the spark like the Dutch international. Can was also slowing the game down in the first half but had a great chance to score in the second which was well saved.

Jordan Henderson – 7/10

The captain was involved in a number of tussles in midfield and even though he controlled the tempo of the game, the team was stifled well by Manchester United. Also played some great crosses into the box.

Philippe Coutinho – 6/10

The Brazilian had one great chance clawed away by David de Gea but barring that, Coutinho had a disappointing game overall.

Roberto Firmino – 6/10

Firmino was one of the brighter sparks for the team and he had a great chance late on but was denied by a great tackle by Antonio Valencia.

Daniel Sturridge – 5/10

Daniel had a horrible game and barely featured in the attack for the Reds. He was taken off mercifully but he needs to work harder if he is to keep his place in the XI.

Sadio Mane – 6/10

The Senegalese international did not have a great game, his first touch was off and his directness was missing for some reason.

Substitutes

Adam Lallana – 5/10

Adam Lallana didn’t start for the Reds but he did link up well with the attack.

Divock Origi – NA

The Belgian was brought on late for Liverpool but couldn’t really do much in the game.
