Liverpool Transfer News: Long-Term Target Could Be Sold For €80m Fee

Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could be on the ship out of the German club. The 27-year-old Gabonese striker has been one of the best Dortmund players since signing for the club but the chief of the club, Hans-Joachim Watzke, has stated that they could sell their star striker should any team meet their asking price.

Sky Sports has stated that the Bundesliga side have slapped a mammoth transfer fee on the 27-year-old.

“Borussia Dortmund have slapped an €80m price-tag on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and are unwilling to sell the Gabon forward for less than that”.

Liverpool have been linked in the past with a move for Borussia Dortmund players and it is no surprise that the Reds are one of the clubs that could provide Aubameyang with a home next season.

There have been many sources that have linked the two parties but nothing concrete has been stated ever. Jurgen Klopp has never stated that the Reds will want to sign the striker up but Aubameyang has stated that he would like to play in England.

The perfect striker for Klopp’s Liverpool

The Reds were earlier linked with a move for Mario Gotze but the German re-signed for Dortmund after his ill-fated spell with Bayern Munich. Klopp has so far kept his hands away from Dortmund and has not signed any player from the club.

The German manager though has brought talent from the Bundesliga in the likes of Joel Matip, Ragnar Klavan and Loris Karius, who have gone on to become first-team players at Liverpool. Aubameyang would be an incredible addition to an effective attack but the price tag certainly is the big problem at the moment.

Liverpool would not be willing to shell out that amount of money to sign the 27-year-old. They already have a great striker in Daniel Sturridge and his two-goal display in the EFL Cup just went out to show, he can perform when given the chance.

The Reds also have the likes of Divock Origi and Danny Ings, who also performed well in the 2-1 win over Tottenham, and will be expecting more chances in the starting XI. However, bringing Aubameyang to Anfield would be a major coup and the attack would become irresistible and probably one of the best in Europe.

Aubameyang knows how to play in a Jurgen Klopp side and moving for him would certainly mean the end of Daniel Sturridge. A swap deal would be a good option for the Reds, as Sturridge would end up playing in another country but the Englishman would probably want to stay and fight for his place than be sold.
