Liverpool might be thinking of bringing players into the club in the next summer window but there could be one player who will surely be leaving the club according to France Football. The article published features a list of French players who could be making a move in the January transfer window and Mamadou Sakho featured high amongst the probable candidates.

A few of the other players listed were Hatem Ben Arfa and Geoffrey Kondogbia, the latter is also a target for the Reds according to a few sources. Moving back to Sakho, the French central defender has not played a single game for the Reds since the doping scandal which made him miss the latter part of last season.

The 26-year-old former PSG man was expected to make a return this season for the Reds after working on his fitness but a lot of problems during pre-season tours ensured that the defender would not be part of the Liverpool side.

Sakho also was pegged back in the pecking order thanks to the signing of Joel Matip from Schalke. The Cameroon defender has formed a great partnership with Dejan Lovren and the duo cannot be dropped, even though they do concede a few goals.

Home is where the heart is

The French defender might be one of the best when it comes to the physical nature and even heading the ball but he has been playing football for the reserve side and January would be the perfect time to let him leave.

Sakho was linked with a move to Lille but the player was not, reportedly, keen on making a switch to the Ligue 1 club. The French defender, according to France Football, is 99.9% certain to leave the Reds this season with the only question being the tenure of the leave.

A loan deal would ensure that many clubs can try out the player but that could also backfire as the defender could be back at Liverpool next season with barely any game time. A permanent deal in January looks highly unlikely as not many would be able to sign a player of Sakho’s calibre and Liverpool would not want to let him go on the cheap.

Things have been tough for the defender and he did share a message on social media earlier asking for Liverpool to come clean on his situation and for the club not to lie.

The former PSG defender at one stage was the best defender the Reds have but his stock has fallen off the charts. It would be a shame seeing him leave but the Frenchman has crossed the line with Klopp and that has ensured Sakho does not have a future anymore at the club.
