Liverpool are reportedly looking to bring in a left-back in January. The Reds have played James Milner in that position for most of the season and Alberto Moreno has been the backup for the Englishman. But Jurgen Klopp has been on the lookout for a player to fill in this hole and according to the Sun, Josh Tymon is the player who could be the man that could move to Merseyside.
The 17-year-old has impressed for Hull City in the EFL Cup this season and the England U17 player is on the radar for other Premier League clubs, including Everton as well. It was also reported that Jurgen Klopp had asked Tymon to be watched in the EFL Cup win over Bristol City a few days ago and was impressed with what was shared about the defender.
Contract issues could hamper the deal
Hull City might be struggling in the Premier League but they would be trying their best to keep hold of their star in the making. The deal to join another club could be scuppered by the fact that Hull wants to extend the contract of the defender.
While a new contract doesn’t make him immune to moves to other clubs, it would just mean that a team would have to pay more to bring him. Tymon, for his part, will be hoping for more game time and the Englishman could still make it to a few more games for the Tigers before the season ends.
To be honest, it would be better for Tymon to stick with Hull at least till the end of this season. The 17-year-old will get to play in the cup competitions this season and if he is lucky, he could also make it to the Premier League side for a game or two.
Moving to Liverpool or any other Premier League club for that matter would only mean that he would be sent to the reserve side or even the academy to gauge his growth and abilities. Liverpool might be a move too big for the youngster and this rumour does seem to be a little odd.
The Reds have been linked with multiple players across the weeks and that is simply because there is no news coming out of Anfield. Jurgen Klopp is also tight-lipped about any transfers that might be taking place at the club, thus making it tougher for people to come out with genuine links.
The youngster might not be the answer for the Reds this season but they certainly need to fix their left-back issues quickly if they are to do well in the next season as well.
