Liverpool fans always find great joy when Manchester United end up losing. They don’t mind it even if the Merseyside club isn’t the one handing out the defeat but it is a little sweet when an ex-Red is on the winning side against the Red Devils.
When Manchester United went on to face Fenerbahce in the UEFA Europa League, there was one former Red, Martin Skrtel who stood tall and ensured the Turkish side came out with a 2-1 win. The Red Devils were poor and the Slovakian defender did really well to keep the scoring at bay.
Skrtel was bought to Liverpool by Rafael Benitez and his no-nonsense playing style did earn him a lot of fans. Skrtel was one of the toughest defenders in the league and even though he didn’t win a lot at the club, he is still loved by many.
Manchester United might have defeated Fenerbahce earlier in the competition but Skrtel and his team got the last laugh. Twitter was ever present to praise Skrtel and ridicule United at the same time. Here are some of the best responses from Twitter after the game.
Martin Skrtel has done alot wrong in his time at Liverpool but forget about all that, he has pocketed £300 mill worth of “talent”.

I love how the LFC vets are shutting united all the way down, like some covert operatives Kuyt, Jones, Skrtel!

It has been a tough time for Jose Mourinho as his side had also lost to Feyenoord in the group stages. Dirk Kuyt was another former Red playing for the Dutch side and Mourinho will now have to look forward to a Premier League clash against Swansea.
Things aren’t looking great for the Red Devils in their group in the Europa League as well. They are placed third but have their destiny in their own hands. If they win their remaining two games, they would be through to the next round of the competition. But for now, Liverpool fans can enjoy this slump that Manchester United are in.
