Liverpool v Hull City - Premier League

Liverpool were at their attacking best against Watford as they hammered the Hornets at Anfield. The Reds scored six goals and went to the top of the league. The gauntlet was thrown by Chelsea, who had defeated Everton by a score line of 5-0, but the Merseyside club stormed to the top of the Premier League for the first time since May 2014 and the Reds could be putting in a few more performances similar to this before the season ends.

Jurgen Klopp’s team have scored 30 goals in the Premier League in their 11 games and are the top scorers in the competition. It was a great performance all-around with goals from Sadio Mane, Emre Can, Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Georginio Wijnaldum.

The dynamism of the front three of the Merseyside club has been evident from the first day of the season and credit must be given to Jurgen Klopp. The German has certainly turned things around for the club and here are a few stats from the terrific trio this season.

Mane on fire

The Senegalese has been incredible for the club this season. He was an expensive signing from Southampton but he has repaid the faith of Klopp and has easily been the best transfer this season in terms of the attack at least.

#1 Mane has been involved in a goal or an assist in eight out of ten appearances for the Reds

#2 The former Saints star has scored in four out of five Premier League games at Anfield

Incredible Roberto Firmino

The Brazilian was another expensive signing from Hoffenheim and he seemed to be a misfit under Brendan Rodgers. But Klopp has made Firmino his focal point and the Brazilian also has kept Daniel Sturridge out of the side this season.

#3 The Brazilian in his last seven Premier League games has scored five times and assisted three times

#4 Firmino also scored the 100th goal for the Reds in 2016

#5 The most surprising stat for the striker, only Diego Costa, Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane and Jermaine Defoe have scored more goals than Firmino

The star man at the moment

The one player who has been unbelievable this season has been Philippe Coutinho. The former Inter Milan player was incredible against Watford and should have scored more than one goal and even assisted more but here are some of the eye-popping stats of the Brazilian.

#6 Coutinho has played a role in eight goals from his last seven goals

#7 The Brazilian has assisted or scored a goal every 71 minutes for the Reds this season

The numbers say it all. The Reds might not have the best defence in the league but if they keep on performing at this level in attack, it could be a fruitful season for them. It will be interesting to see how they perform when Sadio Mane leaves for the African Cup of Nations but even with Coutinho and Firmino, Liverpool are a threat for any side in the Premier League.
