Liverpool fans have to deal with the loss of Adam Lallana through injury for a few more weeks. The Englishman picked up a groin injury in the 2-2 friendly against Spain during the international break and even missed the 0-0 draw against Southampton, his former club.

The 28-year-old has been an incredible player for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season and is one reason why the Reds lie second in the Premier League. Lallana is now expected to miss two or three games for the Merseyside club and the manager confirmed that to the Liverpool Echo.

Adam Lallana is not in because he picked up an injury with England. It was serious enough to be not involved against Southampton and possibly the next two or three games. We don’t know exactly in the moment but that was the only problem we had.

Liverpool did miss the energy and creativity of the former Southampton star and the draw ensured they lose out on the top spot to Chelsea, who won at Middlesbrough 1-0.

Lallana will not be missing crucial games for the Reds

There still is some good news even with this injury as Lallana isn’t going to miss any big clashes for the side. The Englishman is expected to miss the games against Sunderland, Leeds United and Bournemouth.

The game against Leeds comes in the EFL Cup and the former Southampton star could be targeting a return in the match against West Ham United on 11 December.

Liverpool have to be careful as to how they deal with Lallana as he has been one of the best players in the Premier League. Truth be told, the Reds should be able to defeat all the teams listed above with only West Ham actually posing some sort of threat.

The Merseyside club though have to avoid being complacent, something that caught them out against Burnley early in the season as they lose 2-0. Sunderland are in a good vein of form and playing against Bournemouth with Eddie Howe managing the side is never going to be easy, especially when Lallana is going to be out.

The Englishman already has three goals and five assists to his name in the Premier League this season and he would be looking to add a few more goals and assists to his name come the end of the campaign. It is a surprise as to how important Lallana has become to the Liverpool side this season but it is proof of his capabilities as he has worked extremely hard to become one of the best this season.
