Steven Gerrard Rejects Managerial Role For Championship Club MK Dons

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard’s time at America has come to an end and the 36-year-old is set to return to England. There have been many rumours stating that the former Liverpool captain was in talks with MK Dons to take over the manager’s role but that has come to an end.

BBC Sport claims that the talks between the two parties have ended, even though the initial discussion was “good”. The Dons have been struggling in League One and currently lie in the relegation zone but Gerrard has turned down the chance to manage the Dons.

Liverpool fans will be hoping that the legend does return to the club in a management role under Jurgen Klopp. Gerrard coming into the side would also give them a lot of experience as he can look back at the season where they lost the title to Manchester City.

There are a few who believe the Reds should not bring Gerrard in at the moment as he could distract the side who lie second in the table and are looking for their first ever Premier League title.

A bigger role required for Gerrard in football

The Englishman did state that he could play for a few more months and he still had something left in the tank. That points to a player-management role and another former Liverpool manager might have the position that Gerrard wants.

Brendan Rodgers might have been sacked from the Merseyside club over a year ago but he is enjoying his time at Celtic as the Hoops lead the Scottish league. Celtic are sure shots for the title and the Englishman could finally win a league title, even if it isn’t in England.

Celtic do need a midfielder and Gerrard does have a bit left in the tank. He would also be picking up a lot from Rodgers, who still is a good coach, even if he was sacked from his last job.

Liverpool might feel left out if Gerrard does move to Celtic but it would be a good occasion for him to see if he can still play at a top level and pick up a lot of tips related to coaching. Maybe moving to Liverpool at this moment is a little too soon and the spotlight would also be back on him, which is something he would want to avoid.

Gerrard to Liverpool will happen sooner rather than later and it might even be for the top job at the Merseyside giants.
