Liverpool are constantly linked with moves for young players and the Reds are looking to target the Serie A now.  Based on reports from Liverpool Echo, Liverpool are set to battle Serie A Champions Juventus for the signature of Atalanta’s Franck Kessie.

The youngster is often referred to as the next Yaya Toure and the Ivorian also plays in the same role as the current Manchester City star and has scored five goals in his first four matches of the campaign.

Playing in Italy is a tough task but the 19-year-old seems to be doing pretty well and Liverpool have reportedly scouted him intensively. The Premier League side have a lot of competition for his signing with Manchester City, Napoli, Chelsea, Roma and Monaco, amongst other clubs, who want Kessie’s signature.

A player with a bright future for club and country

It isn’t new to hear about another player turning out to be the next Yaya Toure. The Ivorian has been one of the best African exports in both La Liga and the Premier League but Kessie does seem to be made of strong stuff.

The 19-year-old also made his international appearance for the Ivory Coast side at the age of 17 against Sierra Leone.

Kessie does play as a defensive midfielder but can also play a little advanced to give his side a little bit more of an attacking threat. The 19-year-old is known for his ability to run with the ball and does have an eye for the goal. He can also shoot the ball from a distance but there are a few regions where he has to work.

One section of his game where he needs to work is in tackling as he is not the best when it comes to that. He also is extremely inconsistent but that could be corrected with more playing time for both club and country.

Liverpool would be looking to add more strength to their squad but the Reds already have quality youngsters such as Kevin Stewart and Marko Grujic already in the side. Cameron Brannagan is also another star in the making but with young players you never know who will go off the boil and when.

Having a great bench strength, even for the youngsters is a decent option to work on for the club. Liverpool do have a great academy with a lot of great coaches and maybe a few months in the U23 side could help Kessie get better. The Reds might not need the Ivorian at the moment but he wouldn’t make for a bad signing either.
