The battle to bring in talent during the winter transfer window is heating up and Liverpool are firmly entrenched to bring in Franck Kessie from Atalanta, according to various reports from the Italian media.

The Ghanaian has been one of the brightest players in the Serie A and has scored seven goals in just 17 appearances for the Italian club. Kessie is also a regular for the national side and plays in midfield, and can be used in a variety of positions across the park.

The 20-year-old could be signed by Liverpool if they are willing to spend €30 million. That is the price that the Italian club have set for their talented youngster and the Reds were reportedly looking to spend €20-25 million (via calciomercato.it) when they first decided to bring Kessie to Anfield.

Tutto Mercato Web believes that the price set by Atalanta is non-negotiable and the Reds or any other club looking to sign Kessie up will have to stump that fee. The 20-year-old certainly has a bright future ahead of him and could be slowly integrated into the Liverpool setup.

A big battle on the cards to sign Kessie up

It isn’t just Liverpool who are interested in bringing the 20-year-old to England. Tottenham are also in the chase and have reportedly tabled a bid as well for the Atalanta star. Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United are also tracking the youngster.

Jurgen Klopp has proven in his short stint at Anfield that he is willing to give youngsters a chance and a number of players have made their first team debuts during his tenure. Kevin Stewart, Marko Grujic, Cameron Brannagan and Ben Woodburn are just some of the players that are making a name for themselves in the side.

It isn’t a guarantee that Kessie would slot straight into the first team but he does have the talent to become one of the best for his country, at least. The Reds had splashed a crazy amount when they signed another African in the offseason with Sadio Mane shining brightly and they could be just as lucky with this player as well.

Klopp also has been extremely good with most of his signings. Joel Matip, Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum have all done very well since the start of the season and there should not be too many doubts about his capabilities of finding the right player.

Kessie will have a number of clubs to choose from in the winter window but he has to decide carefully where his career would blossom the most. Liverpool does seem to be the better choice in terms of playing time but with more money at other clubs, that could be a deciding factor for the African.
