Chelsea Join Liverpool In The Race To Sign This English International

Joe Hart might be playing his football in Italy but the number of suitors in England seems to be increasing with each day. While Liverpool have been linked with a move for the 29-year-old, there seems to be competition coming in from London as well with Chelsea interested in the keeper.

The Daily Express claims that the former Manchester City star is a serious target for Chelsea. The Blues have sounded out Hart as the replacement for Thibaut Courtois, should the Belgian decide to leave the club.

Courtois had been frustrated with the play at Chelsea last season under Jose Mourinho and had consistently stated that he wants to leave the club. This season, however, it has been a different story as the Blues are flying high at the top of the table and this rumour does seem to be a little difficult to digest.

What Hart could be is a better replacement to have than Asmir Begovic. The former Stoke City goalkeeper might be looking to play more games and could be looking at a move away from the Bridge.

Liverpool’s goalkeeper issues

The rumour does not solve the problems the Reds have in their goalkeeping department. The Merseyside club have flip-flopped between Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius throughout the season and now the Belgian is preferred between the sticks after Klopp had stated that Karius is his number one keeper.

The Reds could do with a keeper who isn’t as error-prone as Mignolet and someone who has a lot of confidence but moving for Hart is only a short-term solution and will not really ensure they have a top keeper for years.

Even Hart has made mistakes, as with most keepers that Liverpool have had in recent years, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Pep Guardiola doesn’t sell him to an English club. Speaking of Manchester City, even bringing in a top goalkeeper in Claudio Bravo does not ensure clean sheets and a great performance day in and day out.

The Reds should keep hold of their goalkeepers as they should get better under Klopp. The German has done a lot of good work with the outfield players and only the goalkeeping department has to improve.

Hart, for his part, might not be able to return to the Premier League after his move to Torino. He might still be one of the better keepers in the Premier League but he would not be playing for a top side unless Guardiola has a change of heart.

The 29-year-old could end up playing in another country but for now, he is not the solution to Liverpool’s problems.
