Liverpool’s hunt for a winger certainly seems to have been hit hard this season. The club have been looking to find a Sadio Mane replacement and had earmarked Christian Pulisic for the position but the American is not willing to move at the moment.
The Reds have shifted their attention to another Bundesliga star with Emil Forsberg being linked with a £20m move to Anfield according to the Mirror on Sunday. Forsberg plays for Bundesliga surprise package RB Leipzig and has been in great form for side.
The Swedish winger might be 25 years of age but he is certainly on form and has already scored five goals this season. The winger also has provided eight assists in the Bundesliga this season, thus having a hand in 13 goals from 16 games for the side.
Forsberg certainly does seem to be a player that fits into the Klopp mould and could certainly take up the hole that Mane leaves behind as he lines up for Senegal in the African Cup of Nations. Forsberg is known for his defensive contrition and is not averse at running back and helping the side out.
The Swedish star is also great at providing accurate passes and is great at linking up with the attack. The 25-year-old is also great at taking long shots and can be deadly when taking set-pieces. Leipzig also play with a similar counter-attacking style compared to Klopp’s Liverpool and the deal might still be doable should the Reds pay £20m or so for the player.
The right man for the Reds?
While Liverpool have been linked with almost every winger in the world, at least the ones who are a little economical, Forsberg does seem a good deal for the Reds. The 25-year-old is also similar to the players he has brought in from the Bundesliga with Loris Karius and Ragnar Klavan not being the biggest names in the world.
Klopp has also been brilliant with his big money signings or at least the players with big names and reputations. Joel Matip came on a free transfer but he certainly is one of the best defenders in the side while Sadio Mane has been exceptional since his big-money move from Southampton.
