January Transfers: Liverpool To Wrap Up Deal For This Championship Youngster

Liverpool have been recently linked with a move for one of Norwich City’s rising stars, Jacob Murphy. The English winger is having a fantastic season with the Canaries even if the club don’t look like moving back to the Premier League this season.

While Norwich are ninth in the Championship, Murphy has been doing exceptionally well and has scored six goals and provided five assists in 20 games for the side. He has been with the club since 2006 and only made his professional debut three years ago. Murphy is 21 years of age and even his twin brother plays for the same side.

According to reports, Liverpool are set to sign the youngster with the player going back to Norwich till the end of the season. With the Canaries looking to end the season on a high and maybe make it to the playoff spots, this deal would certainly be good for the Championship side.

Liverpool did do something similar related to Marko Grujic’s transfer as the young Serbian was also sent back on loan after signing with the Reds. Grujic has played a few games for the Merseyside club this season and does look a decent player at the moment.

There are problems with this rumour though as the Merseyside club require a winger that will replace Sadio Mane who is to leave for the African Cup of Nations. Murphy might be a good player for the future but he is not what Liverpool need at the moment.

Injuries too are an issue for the Reds and unless they find a quality player that can start games for them, they could be in danger of missing out on a top-four place. The likes of Manchester United and Tottenham are also in form and any further slip-ups will lead to a lot of problems for Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds did start the season well but have trailed off recently due to a number of indifferent results. The attack has been the saving grace for the Merseyside club this season and Klopp has to ensure they keep firing on all cylinders till the end.

Murphy might not be the signing at the moment but he could be great for the future. The worry is the fact that he is already 21 at the moment and Liverpool have other quality youngsters like Ovie Ejaria and Sheyi Ojo waiting in the wings. Maybe this move will not be for the Reds and the youngster could become a Spurs man after all.
