Adam Lallana has been in brilliant form for Liverpool this season and the Reds are trying to hold him down to a more lucrative contract. The 28-year-old had joined the Merseyside club for £25 million from Southampton and former boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to reunite with the talented Englishman at Tottenham according to the Express.
Pochettino was linked with a move for the Englishman in the summer and it seems he is ready to bid again for the 28-year-old. Liverpool on their part are willing to increase his wages from £60,000-a-week and are looking to place him amongst the highest earners at the club such as Daniel Sturridge and James Milner at around £120,000-a-week.
Lallana still has a couple of years left on his current contract and based on his performances this season; it is no surprise that Liverpool wants to keep him for the foreseeable future. His new position in the midfield has seen him score seven goals and the Englishman has also provided six assists so far.
The former Southampton man did have a tough start to his Liverpool career but Klopp has turned the career around of the Englishman and clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain also seem to be interested in the 28-year-old.
An impressive turnaround by Klopp and Lallana
There were many that expected Lallana to be sold in the summer but Klopp kept faith in him based on the performances in the second half of last season. The Englishman has probably been the best Liverpool player along with Philippe Coutinho and his impressive goal scoring record and link up play in the attack has certainly been a joy for Liverpool fans.
The 28-year-old might not be thinking of moving to any other club at the moment as he seems to enjoy his time at Liverpool and credit must be given to Jurgen Klopp for transforming the Englishman’s career at the Merseyside club.
Lallana does not seem to be an expensive flop at the moment and if he can keep his form going for a few more weeks, Liverpool could be at the top of the Premier League table once again. The Reds are second placed in the table behind Chelsea and have to face Manchester United next in the Premier League round.
Liverpool also have to face Plymouth and Southampton in various cup competitions before they face the Red Devils. The Reds will be looking at Lallana to provide some attacking verve to the side and hopefully, the Merseyside club can come out with a positive result at Old Trafford.
