Jose Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp exchange words on the touchline at Old Trafford
Liverpool missed out on a chance to close the gap to Chelsea at the top of the Premier League after a 1-1 draw with Manchester United. The Reds took the lead thanks to a well-struck penalty by James Milner in the first half.

The away side had a few chances to score the second goal but United deservedly got the equaliser after a lot of pressure. Zlatan Ibrahimovic got the goal and ensured that the points were shared between the sides.

Liverpool would be the happier of the teams as they haven’t had the best of 2017s while United should be disappointed with the draw after having won six Premier League games in a row.

We look back at the game and rate the Liverpool performances.

Simon Mignolet – 8/10

Mignolet couldn’t do much to save the equaliser but he did brilliantly in the first half to stock Henrikh Mkhitaryan out and was quick to shut out Ibrahimovic.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7/10

It is never easy to play at Old Trafford, especially when you are making your first Premier League start but the youngster was exceptional throughout the game, even if he made a mistake or two.

Ragnar Klavan – 7/10

Klavan didn’t do much wrong, though he could have done more to stop the equaliser from going in.

Dejan Lovren – 7/10

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored his 19th goal of the season

A nervy start to the game and was almost punished after a poor back pass. Lovren did get better and ensured the Red Devils didn’t do much in attack.

James Milner – 8/10

Milner scored a penalty, yet again, and was one of the best players out on the field for the Reds.

Emre Can – 6/10

Can didn’t have the greatest of games and often gave the ball away. The German clearly needs a rest and quickly.

Jordan Henderson – 7/10

The captain returning was a great help for the Reds and really got them ticking along. Hopefully, he can help the side to more victories in the upcoming fixtures.

Georginio Wijnaldum – 8/10

Wijnaldum had a great game and was everywhere on the pitch. He should and could have won it at the end and had a great header which he missed late on in the game.

Adam Lallana – 7/10

The Englishman was another bright spark for the side and ran a lot but he couldn’t really provide a lot in the final third.

Divock Origi – 6/10

The Belgian put himself about and did have a great chance to trouble the United defence in the first half. Origi was substituted in the 60th minute for the introduction of Philippe Coutinho.

Roberto Firmino – 6/10

Firmino had a poor game and he misplaced a number of passes. Firmino might need a rest and with Philippe Coutinho returning, it might be time for him to take a rest.

Substitutes

Philippe Coutinho – 6/10

Coutinho came on in the second half and had a couple of great moments but he clearly needs more time on the pitch to get better.
