Liverpool target decides only one club can convince him to move this January

Liverpool have been dealt another blow in their search for a quality attacker for the winter transfer window. The Reds have been linked with a number of players and now the Marca (via Metro) reports that Jese Rodriguez will not be moving to any other club than Las Palmas.

Jese had just moved at the start of the season from Real Madrid to Paris Saint-Germain for £21m but he has failed to start many games for the French club. PSG are willing to let the talented 23-year-old leave but on the condition that it is only a loan deal, and according to the reports, Las Palmas is the one club that Jese wants to move to.

The 23-year-old is a Las Palmas native and it does make sense for him to return to his roots as he looks to regain his confidence. A bit of sun in Spain could be the thing that works out for him but the deal also seems PSG splitting the wage bill with Las Palmas.

The report from the Marca also claims that Liverpool are willing to pay out the entire wage bill for the striker but this deal seems highly unlikely to happen as the player is interested in moving back to Spain.

Jese could have been the perfect signing for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp as they wanted to increase their attacking options in the second half of the season. While the Reds are the top scorers in the Premier League, they have struggled when their main players are out due to injury.

The likes of Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane have already missed and will miss good chunks of the season and the arrival of some fresh attacking talent could have been the answer for the Reds’ title charge.

The Merseyside club is eight points behind leaders Chelsea and with the Blues set to face Liverpool at Anfield at the end of the month, that game could prove to be pivotal. Liverpool, though, have to do better against the so called smaller clubs as the points dropped against Bournemouth, Sunderland and West Ham could come back to haunt them come the end of the season.

There still is some good news for the Reds as Philippe Coutinho seems to be back and is raring to go. He isn’t looking the sharpest at the moment but he did start the FA Cup win over Plymouth and he could be the important player that Liverpool needs till Mane is back from the African Cup of Nations.

For now, Jese doesn’t seem like he would be coming to Liverpool and hopefully, the Reds will have some other player lined up to join the side.
