Long Term Liverpool Target Ready For A Premier League Move – But Not To Anfield

jese-rodriguezOne of Liverpool’s targets from the winter window, Jese Rodriguez, is set to make a move to the Premier League pretty soon. Unfortunately for the Reds, the Paris Saint-Germain forward will not be making a move to Merseyside but he will be playing in red.

L’Equipe claims that the Spanish forward will be joining Middlesbrough in the January window after his agent held talks with the promoted club. Aitor Karanka has done a pretty good job at the Riverside club and the addition of Rodriguez could ensure they stay in the Premier League next season too.

This done came as a bit of a surprise as recently Las Palmas president, Miguel Ramirez had stated that Jese wanted to move to the Spanish side and even the likes of Liverpool and Roma were looking to sign him.

Speaking to Las Provincia newspaper, he said:

“He wants to come to Las Palmas, but he is owned by PSG and earns a salary that is of his level – and that is very high.

“Liverpool, Milan and Roma want Jese and are ready to pay what he earns.

“We cannot afford that salary.”

With PSG looking to make as much money as possible from the former Real Madrid striker, it does make sense to send him out to a Premier League side as they can afford to pay the large salaries from the top clubs around the world.

This does come as a severe blow to the Reds as they have been looking at a replacement for Sadio Mane. The Senegalese star has been taking his side to new heights at the African Cup of Nations and is set to play in the quarterfinals as well.

As we have already seen in the second half of the season, Liverpool have struggled in attack and yet again lost a game at Anfield as they were knocked out of the EFL Cup by Southampton.

The Reds did start the game with what could be said is their best forward lineup at the moment with Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino but the trio failed to score a goal and Sturridge also missed a couple of great opportunities to give the lead to the Reds.

Jese could have been the perfect hard worker and runner for the Merseyside club and could have been the difference maker in a number of games. It seems no player will be joining the Reds in the winter window and that certainly will lead to problems for the rest of the season.
