Klopp Is Already Planning For Summer Window Says The Former Liverpool Star

Liverpool didn’t sign any players in the recently concluded January window after a frustrating time for their manager, Jurgen Klopp. The German was looking to add quality to his team but couldn’t bring in the players that he wanted.

The Reds struggled in the month of January thanks to a lack of squad depth and the other teams finding out how to play against the German’s side. While they only have the league to look at now, Jan Molby believes the manager of the club is already looking forward to the summer.

The former Liverpool star believes the Reds do need to bring in a few new faces next season and even highlighted the situation that surrounds Daniel Sturridge.

Writing for the Liverpool Echo, Molby stated:

“I’d have liked us to have made a signing in January. Sometimes you’re just treading water a little bit and you need something to kick-start your season again. We didn’t but now we go into a period of 15 games in 15 weeks which should suit us.

“In terms of the squad Jurgen Klopp’s shown a lot of patience but I think it’s important to him.

“When he makes decisions he likes to be able to look the player in the eye and say ‘I gave you every opportunity’.

“So we look forward to the summer. Klopp will never be a chequebook manager but there will be some new players coming in that’s for sure.”

The former Liverpool player also shared his views on the number of young players coming out from the academy. Even though the German manager has given chances to the likes of Sheyi Ojo and Ovie Ejaria, Molby claims Liverpool still needs more time for the players to develop.

“As much as you want the young players to be involved, only exceptional young players get in the first team and never come out again and the ones we’ve got are still probably 18 months to two years away from being able to challenge for the first team.”

The frustration of not getting the right players in the winter window certainly has shown on Klopp and his team will be looking to turn things around against from now on.
