Liverpool seems to be already planning for next season and a couple of first-team players are on the chopping block for Jurgen Klopp. The German manager has seen his slide slip away from title challengers to now struggling to make it back to the top four and Daniel Sturridge and Simon Mignolet seem to be set to leave the side next season.

The Reds have had a problem with goalkeepers this season and it is no surprise that the Belgian goalkeeper is one of the players that is seen as surplus to requirements. There have been reports that Joe Hart will be signed by Klopp and even though the Manchester City goalkeeper has not played in the Premier League this season, he could turn out to be a decent option for the Reds.

Sturridge though is a completely different issue as the Englishman does not seem to be the right player for the Klopp kind of football and has seen his chances limited thanks to Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi.

Micky Quinn, a Liverpool insider, was speaking to talkSPORT and stated:

“What I know is that Sturridge could be on his way, Mignolet could be on his way and in could come Joe Hart.”

There was also talk about the club spending big in the coming transfer window as they look to build their squad for a proper title challenge next season.

“The owners are also promising a lot of money to go and buy five to six high-profile players – read into that what you want.

“I think it’s going to be a very, very positive summer for Liverpool. Klopp knows what he needs.”

Quinn also added what the target for the Reds is this season and he expected a top four finish for the Merseyside club.

“That squad this season is not strong enough to win the league, but hopefully it’s enough to be in the top four.”

Problems with their strikers and goalkeepers have seen the Reds slip out of the top four this season and with a tough game coming up against Tottenham, it is imperative for Klopp’s side to do well.

The lack of quality in the team has also affected the results as the absence of Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane from the side hurt them a lot. From challenging for the title to just scraping for a top four place, a lot has changed for the Reds.

Bringing in a number of quality players will help the Reds do better next season but it is another familiar story of “next season” for the Reds.
