With no new acquisitions by the Liverpool side, there is intense pressure on the manager to bring in talent in the summer. The Reds have been linked with a number of players from Germany but the Independent claims that Jurgen Klopp has been tracking Leicester City’s Demarai Gray. But the catch is, as per Evening Standard, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino also wants to add the young winger to his roster.

The former Birmingham winger was a player linked with a move to Liverpool before moving to the foxes at the start of next season and has been one of the few players that has delivered for the reigning Premier League champions.

As the Foxes try to avoid the ignominy of relegation despite being defending champions of the league, Gray has been spectacular coming off the bench and has scored a goal and provided a couple of assists for Claudio Ranieri’s side.

Liverpool have had a poor time in 2017 and have won only one game so far but that has been due to teams finding them out and also not having quality in terms of squad depth. The Reds struggled to put together decent performances since defeating Manchester City at the end of 2016 and that has all but ended their chances of lifting the Premier League title.

The Reds were even knocked out the EFL Cup and the FA Cup and saw their nearly year-long unbeaten run at Anfield come to an end by Swansea City. The absence of top stars due to injury and international commitments also affected the performance of the club as Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane were out for a long time but that should have been dealt with by Klopp.

The German did state that he wanted to bring in a number of players from the Bundesliga in the summer but couldn’t do so. Players such as Christian Pulisic and Mahmoud Dahoud have been on the wish list of the German manager and he seems set to complete their deals in the summer.

Gray to Liverpool is a bit of a surprise seeing that the Reds need a quality first team players and even though the English youngster has impressed, he still needs time to develop and turn into the complete article.

Liverpool had a similar problem with Jordon Ibe and they had to sell the young winger to Bournemouth as his development had stagnated. Klopp does know when to sign the right players and the Gray links might have come about again a little too early.

Should the 20-year-old winger continue his form until the end of the season, he will certainly have a few teams wanting to sign him up but Liverpool might not be the club for him at the moment.
