The rivalry between Manchester United and Liverpool could continue on the shores of France according to the latest reports. 19-year-old Malcom from Bordeaux is the latest player linked with a move to the Premier League.
The Brazilian hasn’t really set the league on fire but he has shown flashes of brilliance for the French club. The pair of Premier League clubs were interested in seeing what the midfielder has to offer and had even sent out scouts in their game against PSG recently.
ClubCall are carrying out the report and even though the player was taken off in the 3-0 loss against the heavyweights from France, he still has had a decent enough season for a number of teams to be interested in him.
Malcom has made 24 appearances for Bordeaux this season and has scored four goals and chipped in with one assist in the league campaign so far.
While Bordeaux would be looking to hold onto the player or sell him to the highest bidder this rumour does seem to be a little out of place considering that both clubs have been linked with a number of other players who are better placed than Malcom.
The 19-year-old Brazilian hasn’t really stolen the show in Ligue 1 and it would be a major surprise if either of the Premier League clubs does move for him in the summer. Malcom though has big plans for the future and even stated that he wants to play in the Champions League for a big club.
“For me, it’s not important which club and which championship I am in,” he said.
“I want to play for a big club, in the Champions League and win it.”
Liverpool have been linked with a number of other midfielders from the Bundesliga and this news story does seem to be a plant to bring attention to a rising star from France. It is a bit of a weird one seeing that the Reds and Manchester United being linked with the same player and for a position that both clubs actually have scouted extensively for in the past few months.
The Reds have been linked with players such as Mahmoud Dahoud, Christian Pulisic and even Geoffrey Kondogbia and Malcom still needs a lot of time to get onto the levels of the other three mentioned in the list.
There is a need for the Reds to be smart in their transfer acquisitions this season and while Malcom might have a bright future in France, it is a major doubt that he will be moving to the Premier League anytime soon.
