Liverpool have had a lot of issues with their defence and they seem to be in the race to sign another Spanish defender next season. Mundo Deportivo claims that the Reds are targeting Marc Navarro after the Espanyol right-back made a great breakthrough this season for the La Liga side.
The 21-year-old defender only made his debut for the La Liga side in January and has become a regular for the Catalan side. The defender scored his first goal for the club too in January and his performances led to a new contract with the club till 2021 to ensure they do not lose the talented defender on the cheap.
The report claims that Liverpool want to sign him up now but fans will remember the Reds making a big money move for Alberto Moreno after a decent season with Sevilla and we have all seen how that has ended for the young left-back.
The Merseyside club also have the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Nathaniel Clyne as right-backs and they might not need more cover for the duo. Alexander-Arnold was impressive in his full Premier League debut against Manchester United while Clyne has been a mainstay for the Reds since joining from Southampton.
Navarro, however, could be a perfect signing for any Premier League side since he is built for the game and is great at going forward and is height also makes him great in the air. Liverpool though would be a little wary of signing another big money player after the Moreno issue.
The Reds have to be careful about their signings next season and they do need a left-back more than a right-back. They have played James Milner in that position and while the Englishman has been great this season for the Merseyside club but they cannot continue to play him in that position.
They also need to bring in cover for the position as it is a surety that Alberto Moreno is set to leave the Premier League side. The Spaniard does not get enough game time anymore and even he is not played in the attack by Klopp anymore.
The money from the sale of Moreno could be used to bring in a defender and more importantly, it could be a player from Germany. Navarro is a new name linked with a move to Anfield and such stories will keep on popping throughout the summer as the Reds have to add quality to their side.
