agueroSergio Aguero’s future might be a bit of a doubt at Manchester City but the Argentine striker has always wanted to play in the Premier League and an old interview states that the former Atletico Madrid man wanted to join Liverpool.

The 28-year-old striker certainly lit up the Spanish league when playing for Atletico but in an interview in 2006, the Argentine claimed that he wanted to join the Reds since he supported them for a while.

Aguero was quoted by TZ Munich newspaper while he was still a part of Independiente: “If I had to choose a league then it would be the Premier League.

“I have been a Liverpool fan for as long as I can remember and it would be a dream to play there.”

The star forward also added that he celebrated after the miracle of Istanbul where the Merseyside club lifted their fifth Champions League crown after defeating AC Milan in 2005.

“I watched the Champions League final and celebrated every goal as if it was for Independiente.”

No country for old Aguero at City?

In recent times Pep Guardiola has decided to start with new signing Gabriel Jesus and the Brazilian did have a great start to his Manchester City career before breaking a metatarsal in the 2-0 win over Bournemouth.

Sergio Aguero did score the goals in the win but there still is a huge cloud on his future for the next season and even though Pep Guardiola did state that he wants the Argentine to stay, he might not playing at the Etihad next season.

The former Atletico Madrid man joined the Citizens in 2011 and helped them to two Premier League titles. He might have become a little injury prone but he still is one of the best strikers in the world of football and a fit Aguero can take apart any side in the world.

Liverpool too have their own striker problems with Daniel Sturridge seemingly set to leave the Merseyside club. The Englishman has lost his place to Roberto Firmino and it seems the Reds will be bringing in another striker in the summer.

Aguero might be available then but he doesn’t seem to fit the Klopp scheme of things at Liverpool. The German manager wants a striker that will run hard and put the opposition defence under pressure, something that Roberto Firmino seems to do very well.

Aguero could be returning to Spain next season and could finish his career either at Atletico. That would be a similar story to that of Fernando Torres, who has also returned to the La Liga side as he looks to end another chapter in his career.
