Liverpool are reportedly heading the queue to sign Fulham teenager Ryan Sessegnon, who has become one of the hottest properties in English football at this moment. A number of top clubs including Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Tottenham are thought to be interested in the 16-year-old, who is widely expected to leave Fulham in the summer.

He will not be able to sign a professional contract with the Championship club till he is 17 years old, and this will not happen until May. However, Sessegnon is believed to have been made clear of the enormous transfer interest and it could spark a bidding war in order to sign him.

Sunday Express have reported that Liverpool have moved ahead in the race to sign the player. The club has brought in a number of highly talented English youngsters over the last few transfer windows. The likes of Danny Ings may not have secured much success at Anfield, but Liverpool are hoping that it is not the case with Sessegnon. Only recently, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte was spotted in a Fulham game at Craven Cottage. This appearance is widely believed to have been to monitor Sessegnon’s capabilities.

At Fulham, the youngster plays as a left back and he has already made more than 10 starts for the Championship outfit this season. Sessegnon is certainly on the verge of making history after firmly establishing himself in the Fulham first-team. The 16-year-old recently became the first player born after 2000 to score in the Championship. Left back is a troublesome position for Liverpool at the moment. Midfielder James Milner has had to fill in this role, as a result of manager Jurgen Klopp losing faith in Alberto Moreno. It is widely expected that the Spaniard would leave the club in the summer, while Milner is also not in the right side of 30.

A long-term solution for the left back crisis is essential for Liverpool. Even though the club may end up without a trophy once again, the club would consider it a major achievement to qualify for the Champions League next season. In doing so, they would be able to seal the deal for Sessegnon. Even though the 16-year-old has a lot of offers on his table, one of the reasons for choosing Liverpool may be the lack of competition at Merseyside.

Liverpool will be able to benefit from a player like Sessegnon, who is already seen as the next Gareth Bale, as he will be able to provide a significant attacking threat from the left back position.
