Liverpool are believed to be favourites to land Lyon goal machine Alexandre Lacazette who is valued to be around £40m or £50m, with London clubs Arsenal and Tottenham being touted as possible destinations as well.

The 25-year old Frenchman has scored an astonishing 119 goals in 262 games for Lyon, scoring 20+ goals in each of his past four seasons with the club.

Reputed French football expert Lauren believes that the striker is almost certain to leave Lyon in the summer and Liverpool could be a possible destination.

Talking to BT Sport, Lauren said,

“He could go to England – whether that’s Arsenal, Liverpool or Tottenham I don’t know. They will have to pay around £40-£50m for him.”

The claim seems to have some base as Lacazette in an interview last month, admitted that he might move away from Lyon in the summer.

In an interview with Canal+ (h/t Goal.com), Lacazette said:

“I think that the right moment has arrived to leave. I think that this summer I will need a change of scenery and discover something else, still with the idea of advancing and progressing in terms of football and as a person. I will continue to work, in the hope that good opportunities will come this summer.”

Lacazette has scored 27 goals in 31 appearances for Lyon this season in all competitions and also has 3 assists to his name. With 30 goal involvements in 31 appearances, it is quite difficult to sign a forward of his calibre as there would be heavy competition from clubs all over the world.

Lacazette could be on his way to Liverpool in the summer.

With the player himself interested in moving away from Lyon, the price may not be as high as Lyon’s expectations. This leaves Lyon in a weaker position as they cannot play hardball with the player interested in departing the club. They can only look to cash in on the player to not risk losing him for a lower amount in the future.

Lacazette scored 23 goals last term in 44 appearances and scored 30 goals in 40 appearances in the season before that. A return of 27 goals in 31 appearances so far this season is a great improvement and only shows why there would be a huge demand for him in the summer.

This might be the right time for Lacazette to move to a bigger scenario as he is significantly developing as a player. The age is right and if the right club comes calling, it might be the best choice for the Frenchman to try and get a move done in the summer.

Liverpool would be an ideal destination for Lacazette as the Reds are the only team in the top-6 without an Elite striker.

It might be a great transfer, given the value proposition and the team composition.
