Liverpool vs Arsenal: Boost For The Reds As £140,000-a-week Arsenal Superstar Could Miss The Blockbuster Game

It has been a week to forget for Liverpool as Leicester City came hard at them and there was nothing that the Reds could do to avoid the onslaught that took place at the King Power Stadium. They looked off the pace and out of sorts for most parts of the game. It came as a surprise, as Liverpool headed to Spain for some warm weather training after their impressive 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

The season has been an inconsistent one for Liverpool, with the team earning hard-earned points against the big clubs, and losing silly points against smaller clubs. This suggests that a lot of work needs to be done in ensuring consistency.

However, the focus is now on the upcoming Arsenal game. Apparently, Liverpool will go into the game with less confidence than they would have had they managed to beat the defending champions.

However, there is something to cheer for the Liverpool fans as Arsenal superstar Mesut Ozil is a doubt for the clash against Liverpool and he may not travel with his team to Anfield. According to Goal, the £140,000-a-week Germany International is hoping to be passed fit for the crucial Premier League encounter at Anfield, although he has been advised to rest up and didn’t take part in the team’s training session on Wednesday.

Ozil is a doubt for Arsenal’s trip to Liverpool.

Ozil has scored 9 goals and has assisted 8 in 29 appearances this season and has covered more ground (10.49km per 90 minutes on average) than the likes of Laurent Koscielny and Alexis Sanchez in 2017, despite playing fewer minutes than the duo.

Though Mesut Ozil is not in great form, he is a player who can damage his opponents on his day, and the news surely comes as a boost to the Liverpool camp, who are missing their captain Jordan Henderson. The Liverpool captain picked up an injury prior to the game against Leicester and is a doubt for the Arsenal game.

With no Mesut Ozil in their ranks, it will be interesting to see who Arsenal play as their number 10. They already have all but 3 of their central midfielders injured. Coquelin, Xhaka, and Ramsey are the 3 midfielders who are fit and available for Arsene Wenger. With Ramsey only recently returning from an injury, it is highly possible that Wenger will risk playing the Welshman from the start.

This would probably open the game up for Liverpool in the centre of the park and it is a great opportunity for the Reds, considering the weight of the clash at stake.
