Sturridge

Liverpool are reportedly looking to offload Daniel Sturridge in the summer as speculation about the striker’s future at Anfield grows increasingly doubtful.

West Ham, meanwhile, are interested in offloading Andy Carroll to fund a move for Sturridge and are reportedly expecting a £32 million fee for Carroll. However, £32m seems to be too huge a price tag, but with Chinese clubs chasing the former Liverpool man, there are good chances of them getting their desired fees.

It is believed that West Ham are willing to pay up to £25 million for Daniel Sturridge as Bilic is keen changing the style of football being played at the London Olympic Stadium. Sturridge, now 27, is younger than Carroll and offers a totally different dimension to that of Andy Carroll’s style of play. However, the Liverpool striker’s injury record is something to be looked into and going for a player who is so injury-prone could prove to be a huge gamble.

It looks increasingly possible that Liverpool are keen on offloading Daniel Sturridge in an effort to buy a recognised goal scorer. Liverpool have badly lacked an out and out goal scorer but still have managed to stay as the top side with the highest number of goals scored in the league this season. Such is the quality of football being played under Jurgen Klopp.

With a proven striker leading the line, one can only imagine the kind of threat the Liverpool attack would pose next season. The whole prospect seems like a mouth-watering one.

It would be essential for Liverpool to buy more attackers as there is a high possibility of the team competing in the Champions League. It might be a wise move from the Reds to let go of Daniel Sturridge as the striker has not been able to get himself involved in the scheme of things under Klopp.

He has been consuming a considerable amount of wage money but fitness issues have meant he has played just 961 minutes this season and has scored 6 goals in 21 appearances this season, along with providing 3 assists as well.

It will be interesting to see whether Klopp decides to hold on to Sturridge or let him go. With the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette looking for new clubs this summer, it could prove to be an eventful summer window at Anfield. It is doubtful that owners FSG would be willing to sanction a deal in excess of £40 million for one player and that will definitely be the case for players of their pedigree. But in football, never say never.
