6 Goals And 3 Assists – This Young English Starlet Could Solve Liverpool’s Problems On The Left

Ryan Sessegnon would be a brilliant signing for Liverpool.

The Plot

Liverpool were reportedly interested in signing Fulham’s young left-back Ryan Sessegnon and the player has been linked with the club heavily. He has been brilliant for Fulham this season and is quickly growing into one of the hottest young prospects in Europe.

It is believed that Jurgen Klopp is keen on bringing the young full-back to Anfield as a summer move looks increasingly likely. Liverpool have played James Milner as a left-back this season and have managed to paper over the crack. However, the need for a natural left-back seems necessary and it might be wise for Liverpool to invest on a full-back soon.

The answer might very well be the 16-year old Ryan Sessegnon. However, the immediate question would be, ‘can a 16-year old boy can carry the weight of playing for Liverpool?’

Apparently, the answer to this question isn’t a straight one. Liverpool need not necessarily look at Sessegnon as an immediate solution. He can rather be considered as a long-term solution. James Milner, though he is not a natural full-back, has managed to shine for the Reds at the back. One might even be tempted to continue playing him as a left-back. But Milner may not be the permanent answer to Liverpool’s left-back problems and that is exactly why Sessegnon would fit in at Liverpool.

Why Sessegnon to Liverpool?

Though he is only 16-years old, he has shined for Fulham in the Championship this season and looks far more mature for his age. He has scored 6 goals and has provided 3 assists in 23 appearances so far and the numbers are extremely brilliant, considering that he is a full-back.

His statistics other than his goal scoring abilities are amazing as well. He has a pass accuracy of 82% in the league, and the fact that he gets involved in the Fulham attack suggests why the percentage is a good number. He also has a shot accuracy of 67%, thus highlighting his ability to let fly. He has also created a total of 11 chances this season in the league and is an extremely intelligent player for of his age.

However, it can be argued that stats are not really a true reflection of a player’s calibre. Ryan Sessegnon is more than just numbers. Realistically, it would be wrong to judge a 16-year old based on his numbers. At a tender age as his, it would be apt to have a look at his basic style of play and his intelligence level. And by the looks of it, it would pretty much be clear that Ryan Sessegnon is someone really special.

The Verdict

If Jurgen Klopp does manage to get his hands on the player, then Liverpool fans can live in peace as their manager would have ended up signing a gem for their beloved club. It would be a masterstroke by Liverpool as the demand for the player would surely be high after a season or two.
