While Liverpool have gotten their season somewhat back on track after their win on Burnley, there are a number of players that aren’t sure about their future at Anfield.

Liverpool opened up a five-point lead over Arsenal as they look to secure a fourth place finish this season and Champions League football but one player seems set to fight for his place in the side next season and that is Lazar Markovic.

The 23-year-old Serbian was on loan at Sporting Lisbon at the start of the season and has been revitalised at Hull City in the second half of the season under Marco Silva, after joining the Tigers in the Januar window on loan. The former Benfica man hasn’t found the net for the Tigers but he has been a threat with his great running on the wings and wants to compete at Anfield for a spot next season.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Serbian said:

“It’s been two or three years since I came to Liverpool. I’m more mature and I have more experience and that is going to play quite a big role in my development.

“I see it differently from the coach [his future at Liverpool]. I am still a Liverpool player. We will have talks in the summer and see how it goes from there.”

Jurgen Klopp had earlier said that a number of players were to leave the side and many expect Markovic to be one of the players to be sold in the summer. Liverpool don’t really have many options for an out-and-out winger in their squad and it is a surprise that the youngster has not been given more chances to prove his abilities. If you are punting for Markovic to feature in Klopp’s plan for next season, try placing your bets immediately as his rise in form has been tremendous. The 23-year-old certainly can make a mark in the final few games of the season and should he be able to help Hull avoid relegation, he could find a place in Klopp’s plans for next season.

The German had revealed that there will be a try-out for the goalkeeping position in the summer between Simon Mignolet, Danny Ward and Loris Karius and we should expect similar trials for a number of positions in preseason.

Markovic has not been able to live up to expectations so far in his career in England but he does have a chance to prove how good he can be at Hull.
