Liverpool have had troubles in their defence this season and have conceded a number of silly goals. The Reds haven’t had the comfort of playing with a set centre-back pairing due to injuries and they do need to bring some quality into this position.
The Reds are being linked with a move for Burnley’s Michael Keane according to the Daily Mail and the former Manchester United player has been one of the more impressive players for the Clarets this season.
The 24-year-old has played 29 Premier League games for Sean Dyche’s side and has been extremely impressive. Keane has been called up for the England side during this international break and it isn’t a surprise that he is being linked with a move to a bigger club.
Liverpool are surely set to sell Mamadou Sakho in the summer as the Frenchman has fallen out of favour with the manager. Sakho is out on loan to Crystal Palace and the likes of Lucas Leiva will also certainly leave the Reds in the summer.
The Brazilian had played a number of games at the heart of the defence and that hasn’t worked out well for the side. Dejan Lovren was also missed in the last few games as he is recovering from an injury.
Ragnar Klavan is a decent back-up to have in the side but he cannot play every game and has often been found out due to his lack of pace. Joel Matip is the only defender who has done well regularly for the side but he did also have injury problems this season and that is something that Jurgen Klopp would not want a repeat of, in the next season.
Keane isn’t the biggest name being linked with a move to Liverpool but he has done a stellar job for the newly promoted side this season. He would also be a great and cheap signing should the Clarets allow him to leave the side.
