Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is reportedly planning a sensational double swoop for Marco Asensio and James Rodriguez, which is believed to be worth £92 million.
The Reds were earlier linked with James Rodriguez and a move was a rumoured possibility. It was said that Klopp would break the Liverpool transfer record to land the Colombian. Now, it looks like the German manager is chasing the Colombian’s teammate as well. Asensio has found his game time limited this season due to heavy competition within the Real Madrid squad.
It has been told that Real supremo Florentino Perez doesn’t want to part with the promising attacker permanently. But it’s claimed he could cash in if the club receives a hefty offer.
It is understood that Real value the youngster at around £40m. However, it might wise for Jurgen Klopp to sign James Rodriguez permanently and Asensio on a temporary basis.
Rodriguez is surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu having fallen out of favour with Zinedine Zidane. It is said that the Liverpool boss is apparently willing to spend £43m up front to bring him to Anfield.
James Rodriguez was signed by Real Madrid in the summer of 2014 by signing a six-year contract with the Spanish club for an undisclosed fee. He has since made over 100 appearances for Los Blancos but never managed to nail down a starting spot in their playing XI.
The move would be a win-win for both James Rodriguez and Liverpool. James is looking for regular game time, which Klopp would surely be able to afford; and the Reds are looking for a quality attacker, which Rodriguez surely is.
The only question would be if the young Colombian would fit Klopp’s style. But if it is the case that Klopp is the one who would be signing the player, it wouldn’t be without a plan as to how to accommodate him in the set-up. Jurgen is an intelligent man and wouldn’t waste a player of Rodriguez’s potential, especially after spending a club record transfer fee on the winger.
On the other hand, a loan deal for Marco Asensio would be a more feasible option than that of a permanent deal as the youngster is being valued at around £40m. Asensio is only 21-years old and it would be ridiculous to spend such money on an unproven young talent who doesn’t even play regularly. The best option would be to insert a buy option in the loan contract which would give Liverpool a great advantage in the summer of 2018.
If these deals do go through, then it would be a real statement of intent from the Reds as they look to travel back to their glory days under the Charismatic German.
